Newsletter

A few of the current articles in the newsletter are here for your edification!  Once the site is up and running properly we hope to publish each newsletter completely, for both members and surfers hitting our club's site.  All articles are published on an 'as is' basis in our newsletter. We also welcome articles from visitors to our club site as well as from our own members which we would publish in our newsletters as well as this site, so if you fancy getting your name in print  e-mail them to us. If we manage to work out how to do it there will also be a gossip page where the daily goings on currently on this page will be housed. We can always hope!

HI FOLKS YOU MAY WELL BE WONDERING WHY THE WEB SITE HAS BEEN DORMANT RECENTLY. IT IS SIMPLY BECAUSE WE ARE IN THE THROWS OF OBTAINING A NEW SERVER AND MUCH BIGGER SITE WITH LOTS OF OTHER FEATURES. BECKY OUR RESIDENT WEB SITE GENIUS IS  IN CHARGE OF THIS AND I KNOW THAT THINGS ARE PROGRESSING WITH THE NEW WEB SITE TAKING SHAPE SOON. THE CLUB ITSELF IS VERY ACTIVE AT THE MOMENT AND WE SUGGEST THAT IF YOU HAVE NOT RECEIVED YOUR NEWSLETTER BY E MAIL YOU CONTACT PETE OR TODDLE OFF TO THE SPEAKEASY AND GET ONE.

RIDE SAFE AND IF YOU CAN'T DO THAT BE CAREFUL!

Pete 11.01.05.

Mel wants me to remind you all of the Sweet Lake City Rally held by M.C.ZOETERMEER, Netherlands between Friday 23rd to Sunday 25th September 2005.

SHORT OF DEATH THERE ARE NO EXCUSES BIG ENOUGH NOT TO BE THERE FOR ANY CLUB MEMBERS. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!  NUFF  SAID.

DELLA WOULD LIKE TO REMIND ALL MEMBERS OF THE AVAILABILITY OF CLUB T SHIRTS. PLEASE CONTACT HER WITH YOUR REQUIREMENTS.

FRIDAY 12TH FEBRUARY 2005.

"Well its 6:30pm and would you believe it three windswept club members have braved 220 miles on their bikes to ride from Yorkshire to go on the club ride out  in the morning.! They have left work and immediately got on their bikes riding through gales rain and sleet to get here and support the club. They are living proof that there isn't really any excuse not to be at the Speakeasy at 9:30 for the ride out tomorrow morning. They want to impress on the membership that a bike is for riding not to be left in a garage and they are looking forward to seeing you all."

MONDAY 14TH FEBRUARY 2005.

Sundays ride out was bloody marvellous and for those cowardly custard tarts who thought the weather was going to be bad ,it wasn't. Yes it was chilly but we rode in sunshine. During the whole day the only rain we got was ironically on the last leg into Clacton. Rumour has it that the weather in Clacton was rain on and off all day. Well frankly you deserve it for not being on the run! Today is Valentines day so resolve to treat the love in your life with loving affection and adoration. GET ON YOUR BLOODY BIKES AND RIDE THEM!  Those that did found a fantastic very biker friendly pub and owner who is going to welcome us with open arms for a camping weekend and who's knows later a rally. Those who didn't trouble to stir themselves won't know what is being talked about when we organise these events. Go take a look, the food is sublime! Location address and expedition maps are available from the Chairman on request but you have to be advised it is a little past Great Bentley folks! Oh what the hell, keep paying your subs we know how to spend it! It would be great to see some of you on a bike from time to time we are finding it difficult to remember who owns what bike as we see them so rarely. Keep us informed. lol !!!!  On a serious note Nigel, Becks and Natalie were disappointed at the absence of members when they were prepared to put themselves out to be with us. Don't whinge and whine about club matters in their presence. We think the expression is, "talk to the hand because the face don't want to know"!  At the next committee meeting there will be a proposal to re introduce an old award of a number of years ago. "Best Attending Member" It will go to one of ten members we can think of!

The above is a friendly kick up the pants but on a serious note what exactly does the club need to do to get members on their bikes? The club is diverse with all aspects of motorcycling considered and there are events to please all tastes organised. Presently the club is going strong and is very healthy but as with all clubs it seems to the outsider to have a small group who are doing everything and a lot, well need we say any more! It has been expressed that we don't do rallies so are not recognised on the scene. Locally at rallies perhaps this is the case, but for other reasons not connected with biking such as members of the club being 'plod' thus classed as "leppers". Nationally, we are well known with a good reputation on the rally circuit. Some members have levelled the point we are standing still. Just how many club events does a person need in our dairies to attend? The mind boggles! Come to the next committee meeting, please. Have your say and organise what you want the club to be doing. In the meantime ride safe you lovely guys n gals!

WEDNESDAY 16TH FEBRUARY 2005.

Only just! Got back from the cosmic bowling in Colchester. Nice ride with the temperature hovering on freezing! Five members and two prospective members in attendance. Congratulations go to one of them, Simon ROBDRUP who passed his test at the tender age of seventeen today! He's joined the club today as well as he is now riding a Thundercat so he can play with the big boys now ( he thinks!). Best attending member trophy watch out. The other prospective member, also sweet seventeen runs by the name of Jason FRENCH. Currently running a Cagiva Mito 125 he fancies swinging his leg over something bigger himself. Possibly a Honda Hornet or an R6 insurance premiums permitting! Simon scooped the cash prize with the highest score of 124 while Jason came first in the gutter ball stakes! Tracey recorded the slowest bowl at just over 2mph but the tortoise trophy overall has to go to her other half Richard.  Is the club ever going to be the same we ask?

WEDNESDAY 3RD MARCH 2005.

By now you should all have received your newsletters via the internet, hope you enjoy them! Copies of the newsletter are also in the Speakeasy. The list of events is fairly full as you can see but there will be an additional event to look out for. A visit to see the Ipswich Witches is planned as the speedway season is about to kick off! Last time we went your illustrious Editor was almost knocked out by an errant bungie strap! Members will be notified in good time of dates etc. Oh yeah, while wer'e at it check out www.vikingmotorcycle.com on the net. Nice guys to do business with from over the pond! Say 'Hi' to Justin who will pull out the stops to help you.

THURSDAY 31ST MARCH 2005.

Well as a write we are all recovering from a bank holiday weekend. The "Southend Shake Down Ride" was bloody marvellous and well supported with many members attending. Started slightly late, surprise surprise. Members new and old were in attendance and the weather got better as the day went on. We have some good photographs courtesy of June who managed to take some pretty good 'action shots' despite being shoehorned into Pete's Hedingham sidecar outfit! There will be articles in the next newsletter. On the domestic front the long planned concreting of the area to the right of the 'Speakeasy' is now well underway courtesy of Steve "Pop Up" GIBSON who is singlehandedly completing the job that's been on the books for at least three years!!! See you all at the committee meeting tonight.
